An urban transformation is underway near the city of Algiers, and an ambitious multipurpose tower has been designed for the site. The program combines different functions such as a healthcare and social services center, commercial premises, and a residential area for a total of 25.000 m². There is a large shopping center with restaurants at the base of the tower, and a healthcare center on the middle floors. The remaining floors are allocated for residential use. The project is located near the university and is well connected to public transportation, including trains.
Facade solution
The volumes are hinged together and extend with broad cantilevers and terraces in different directions, forming a large park that promotes cleaner air and helps improve residents’ access to green areas. The facade, made up of horizontal strips of white GRC (glass-reinforced concrete), generates small overhangs to offer protection from the sun. The interior facade, on the other hand, varies according to the programme it houses, generating a series of architectural solutions that all adhere to a similar concept.
