Restructuring the Camp Clar sports complex for the celebration of the 2018 Mediterranean Games involves planning for two realities: the first one during the games; and the second one when the games are over and the programme must be consolidated into the creation of a large sports park.
The project is a collaboration with the Design Office at the Tarragona City Council. This area, covering more than 250,000 m² is designed to host a large number of events for the Mediterranean Games, held in Tarragona in 2018. The installations include a sports centre with seating for about 5,000 spectators, a track and field stadium with a capacity for 12,000 spectators (temporary), and a water sports centre.
Another essential part of the commission involved considering how the space could be used after the games and how the facilities would be maintained. As a result, the infrastructures that could not provide long-term profitability were deemed temporary, for use only during the games.
