ON-A AT THE EME3 COLLAPSE FESTIVAL

A video by ON-A will kick off the first of the DUELS that are part of the EME3 COLLAPSE Architecture Festival next Friday, March 20. Entitled "Urban Space/Public Space: Whose Street Is It?" the debate will feature Santiago Cirujeda and Josep Acebillo as confronted speakers and Juan Herreros as agitator.

Completion of the comprehensive refurbishment of Drassanes metro station, on line 3, as part of the modernization program for Barcelona's oldest and most worn stations.

ON-A IN ARQUIA/PROXIMA 2008

ON-A has been selected to be part of the catalogue ARQUIA/PROXIMA 2008, presented during the architecture forum celebrated in Valencia from 29th to 31th of October. The program ARQUIA/PROXIMA is an initiative of Bank of Architects that aims to disclose the work of the “very young architects”, with fewer than ten years of qualification.

ARQUIA/PROXIMA 2008. ORIGINS AND DISAGREEMENTS

Catalog of the PROXIMA program with a selection of projects by ‘very young architects’ (less than 10 years of degree), among which you can find the 5 senses lounge bar of ON-A. The PRÓXIMA program is an initiative of the Caja de Arquitectos Foundation for the dissemination of the achievements of young architects.

STAND CRICURSA IN GLASSTEC 2008

From 21th to 25th of October in Dusseldorf, you can visit the stand CRICURSA (architectural glass) in the international exhibition GLASSTEC 2008. This stand, designed by ON-A, has previously been showcased in CONSTRUMAT ’07 and VETECO ’08. Now it can be found in this exhibition, where CRICURSA will present the latest developments of its products.

‘PATENT CONSTRUCTIONS’ IN STOCKHOLM

A new exhibition opened in Arkitekturmuseet in Stockholm; “Patent Constructions: New Catalonian Architecture”. It shows a sample of 35 projects in Catalonia, in which there has been significant Catalonian industry involved. Among the selected are: the 5 Senses Lounge bar and the Stand of Cricursa.

‘A lounge bar between channels like a bone cell’ this is the title of the article about the 5 senses lounge bar in Empuriabrava. An analysis of the project where it is highlighted that ‘ON-A to solve the configuration of the premises has developed a three-dimensional steel mesh that adapts to the existing building and generates the spaces required by the program’.

From 6th to 9th of May, in Madrid, you can visit the stand of CRICURSA (architectural glass) in the international exhibition of the window and the glass enclosure VETECO 2008. With this stand, designed by ON-A, CRICURSA will present the latest products and celebrate the 80th anniversary of its founding.

"Scalae's broadcasts make available conversations with architects who participate, influence or inform architecture today." In this edition Felix Arranz interviews Jordi Fernandez and Eduardo Gutierrez (ON-A) and discusses the trajectory of the two young architects around their stance and approach: architecture as a hobby.

February 5, 2008 AWARDS

COMPETITION OF SANT ANDREU SUBWAY STATION

ON-A won the restricted competition for the reform of the subway station of Sant Andreu (L1). The rehabilitation of the station is part of the modernization program of the oldest and worn-down stations in the city. This is the second project that ON-A will carry out for TMB, after the reform of the Drassanes metro station (L3).

ON-A IN TIME OUT BCN

Time Out Barcelona published a report about “30 young people who stand out in different fields of culture”. Artists, actors, singers, DJs and a couple of architects (Jordi Fernández and Eduardo Gutiérrez/ON-A). “Young talents with the challenge of deciding if Barcelona is to remain, as they say, modern and cosmopolitan. Youths without complexes and critics with the system”.
